Have you ever heard the Buddhist saying - "The only thing constant is change"?That describes us perfectly this year! Changes behind and in front of the scenes are helping us create a sustainable, manageable, and enjoyable business!
First - We will no longer offer composting products. Why you ask? Our rain water harvesting products and services are doing so well, we don't have time to develop or manufacture composting products. That's the bad news. The good news is, we are helping another business who focuses on composting products and services! It's One20 Farm. Kellie and Geremy are friends of ours and live in the same neighborhood. We are helping them get their small, local business off the ground and they are helping us by offering things we can't. How cool is that! (My opinion is that's the way the world should work anyhow.) Please check them out! Second - We're really liking the new social media craze lately. It has been a great way to stay in touch! Check us out on Twitter and Facebook. Third - We now offer the Rainwater HOG. It was originally developed in Australia. They know a bit about rain water harvesting down under mate. We think it's a step up from rain barrels. They can be integrated into a building easier than barrels can. Each of them holds 50 gallons, is constructed from food grade, recyclable plastic.
They can be mounted vertically or horizontally. They can be hidden under decks, mounted along privacy fences or walls. They can also be used to supply thermal mass in buildings. before you ask, there manufactured right here in the states. Our opinion is these kinds of products will become more common in the future. Rain water harvesting will become part of the building design process Fourth - We are designing a new type of automatic diverter/rain barrels system. These will be a permanent installations and require very little maintenance. The only thing you'll need to do is slide a lever and open a valve in the fall. No disconnection required. It will have full flow from the downspout into the barrels. They will be based on the re-purposed, food grade barrels we use for our other rain water harvesting barrels. We have come to understand that many of you want to harvest your rain water but are to busy to spend the time to maintain the system. So plan to make it as easy as possible! We'll have details soon! Finally - We're making a concentrated effort to refer to the web site more. Rather then wasting alot of paper and money on printing brochures, we are giving out business cards and asking folks to visit the web site. Just another policy to keep us efficient and environmentally friendly! Upcoming events we'll be at: July 18th - Scioto Gardens 3rd Annual Gardening & Arts Festival. Delaware, Ohio - Booth Aug. 29th - Wessie Fest - Westerville, Ohio - Booth Sept. 7th - Ohio Green Living Fayre, Zanesville, Ohio - Booth and Workshop Sept. 19th and 20th - Old Time Farm Festival - Centerburg, Ohio - Booth and Workshop Oct. 10th and 11th - Oakland Nursery Fallfest - Oakland Nursery in Dublin, Ohio - Booth and workshops See you all soon!
