What is the off season? It’s that time of the year that we plan for next year and catch up with all the things we didn’t have time for until now. Here is what we’re up to now.

Price increase – There will be a price increase starting January 1st 2010. We have worked hard to keep our costs down but they still have risen and we need to stay sustainable.

Holidays We have gift certificates available. These can be for any of our products and/or services. So how 'bout giving a gift that matters. You won’t need to wrap a barrel either. Give a gift certificate and they can get it in the spring when they are ready to use it. We’ll deliver (Ohio area only) or they can pick it up. Also if you plan to purchase rain barrels in the spring, for yourself, you can get a gift certificate now and get you rain water harvesting products or service in the spring at this years prices.. To purchase a gift certificate, or for more details, call us 614-784-8505 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Partnerships – We are partnering with our great friends, Jay and Anne Warmke at Blue Rock Station on many projects for the future. Including new workshop and some alt building projects. The plan is to create a destination for those wanting to learn more and experience a more sustainable lifestyle. This will be a retreat and education center. It will include education, skill building, and experiential activities targeting sustainability, diy and craftsmanship. Things like alternate building techniques, food growing and preservation, a human powered machine workshop, spirituality, music etc.. It will also include a strong living with in nature component. I believe if we can get back to nature and her rhythms we can help heal our selves and the world. This is a big project and we’ll need lots of help to accomplish it!

We plan to purchase property close to Blue Rock Station in the next couple of years and move there. Diane and I would like to get out of the city. We’re happier there and desire a more peaceful, sustainable, quieter lifestyle. We’d like to have more animals including Alpaca’s and ducks and they kinda frown on that in the city!

New Workshops – Bicycling (see below) Green Cleaning, Intro into sustainable living, Extend the growing season in your garden. Details, dates and locations to come soon.

Bicycles and commuting- If you haven’t noticed yet, I am repairing, upgrading bicycles and offering my workshops again. I did this before Little Square Farm under the Restoration Bicycle banner. I love bikes and I love helping everyone realize the potential of a bicycle. I repair all types of bicycles but I specialize in older bikes. The ones that the normal retails shops don’t want to see. My philosophy is if the frame fits and is in good shape, we can make a good bike out of it. I really love taking an old bike and upgrading the drivetrain and adding the accessories needed to make it useful and comfortable to use as a commuting vehicle.

My workshops include Urban Commuting, Winter Riding and Maintenance. I can offer group and personal instructions. What are my qualifications? I am a long time commuter and a former ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certified Master Tech with L1. I am a founding member of Simply Living’s Alternative Transportation Project. We advocate a paradigm shift in transportation priorities at a personal and community level. I started commuting by bicycle in the mid 1980s and I always did my own bike work. I strive to teach the practical skills needed to ride in and urban/ suburban environment, in all kinds of weather and to keep your bike working reliable and comfortably through it all. See the workshop page for more details.
